Your Energy Age is a simple, plain-English way to answer a question most of us feel but rarely measure: are my daily habits adding to my energy, or quietly draining it? It’s an estimate of how your everyday routine stacks up against your real age — shown as an age number next to a 0–100 Vitality Score.
It is general wellness education, not a medical test. It can’t diagnose anything, and it isn’t a substitute for a clinician. What it can do is turn five quick habit answers into a number you can actually move.
Energy Age vs. your real age
Your real (chronological) age only counts birthdays. Your Energy Age is different: it reflects the habits that tend to shape how energetic you feel day to day — sleep, movement, nicotine, alcohol, and stress. If those habits are working for you, your Energy Age can read younger than your real age. If a few are working against you, it can read older.
This isn’t the same as a clinical “biological age” test, which uses lab biomarkers. Energy Age is a transparent, habit-based estimate you can run in your browser in about a minute — no blood draw, no sign-up.
The five habits that move it
The Energy Age check scores five everyday habits, each well-established in public-health guidance as something that affects how you feel and function:
- Sleep — most adults are advised to get 7+ hours; short sleep is linked with worse daytime functioning (CDC).
- Movement — adults are advised to get at least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week (HHS).
- Nicotine — quitting improves circulation and overall health, with benefits starting soon after (CDC).
- Alcohol — drinking tends to disrupt sleep quality, which often shows up as lower next-day energy (NIAAA).
- Stress — chronic stress can affect sleep, energy, and well-being (NIMH).
How the estimate is built
The check is deliberately transparent. Each habit answer carries a small point penalty; the penalties add up and subtract from a starting score of 100 to produce your Vitality Score. That score is then mapped to an Energy Age relative to your real age. The full method — including how many points each habit can cost — is laid out in How the Vitality Score works.
Because it’s a simple model of well-known factors, it’s an estimate, not a verdict. Two people with the same answers get the same result; nothing about your individual health, genetics, or medical history is included.
Is it accurate?
It’s accurate as an estimate of habit direction, not as a clinical measurement. Think of it like a quick mirror: it can’t tell you your exact health, but it can reliably point at the one habit costing you the most energy — and roughly how much a realistic change could give back. For anything health-related, your clinician is the source of truth.
